Today’s shipment was inspired by a remark done by my Mum few weeks back, when she has seen me reading a book, making notes and sticking highlight notes on pages with underlined quotes. She said: “You look like you are having an exam tomorrow.” And that one sentence made me pause and reflect. “Wow, did I look that committed? What are the other activities when I am totally focused and I might appear to external observer as totally obsessed student with exam knocking on a door?” Then it hit me:

greetings from London – Woking. Yeah, I am still in U.K. as I have managed to miss plane back to Slovakia?! yesterday I have experienced yet another miracle of my life, when I have got a privilege to personally meet Emmanuel Gobillot. Emmanuel has inspired me more than one year ago, when I have “met” him for the 1st time via his talk on Youtube at Google. Few hours after our yesterday’s meeting, I have lost words (see my tweet) from an email, which hit my inbox, in which Emmanuel asked me to post it on Inspiring Shipments, so I am doing so, now:

in previous shipment we have talked (especially your thoughts in comments were amazing!) about importance of art and unique creative work in our world. You made me truly think more deeply about this essential topic. I have connected dots from past months about changes in perception and value of the art in the age of commerce, we happen to live in now. Guys, I want you to form your own opinion and make your own judgment. Let me bring into your attention commercially not very well known sources, which were collected for you in past few months and now it made sense to ship them.

shipping emotional labor is pretty surreal term for majority of the people. Not a long time ago, I was not able to recognize doer/shipper from talker/pretender as well. Headhunters, HR departments cannot see what you have shipped and how emotionally you have labored through lines of your CV. Same it might be with your colleagues and bosses, when they wonder: “What’s her problem? Why is she not getting it done according that template, we have always used for many of our clients? Why does she bother to create new ppt. when that manual is already written in a word document? Why is she creating new slides for every speech she goes to, is it not less stressful to talk about slides from the last year, which she knows already by heart?”
