[Guest] Exclusive Interview with Srikumar Rao

Srikumar Rao Wohoooo Super Cool Gang (SCG),

I am more than excited and humbled to introduce you very special 1st guest ever to our “Super Cool Household”.

Prof. Srikumar Rao

I am honored that SCG is among first online communities in the world, which will have the opportunity to find out more about just released (2nd April 2010) book by Srikumar Rao – Happiness at Work.

5 Interview Questions have been answered by Srikumar himself, exclusively for SCG community.

How Super Cool is that? 😉

ENJOY!

1) Your book Are You Ready To Succeed? was life changing piece, which new issues are you addressing in your new book  Happiness At Work ?

The basic topics I cover are the same, but I go much deeper in many instances. For example, in Are You Ready To Succeed I point out that we can benefit from not labeling anything that happens to us as a “bad” thing. In Happiness at Work I not only describe exactly why this is so but also show you methods by which you can avoid such labeling.

In Happiness at Work I show how many mental models we use that are completely dysfunctional and what to do about them. I demonstrate that our suffering comes from the drama we create between our ears and how we can avoid doing this.

2) What was the main drive and urge for writing your new book?

I get a better feel each day about what really troubles people in this new era with rampant uncertainty in many areas including finances, career and relationships. I can’t provide answers but I definitely can provide a framework that will help each person generate his/her own answers to these pressing problems. So I wanted to do that in a simple and highly effective manner.

If you read Happiness at Work and sincerely do the exercises in the book, your life WILL be transformed, and vastly for the better. The wisdom in it has come from great masters and that is how and why I can state this so unequivocally.

3) Why should Super Cool Gang-ers pick up your new book?

Anyone interested in leading a fully engaged, joyous life should read this book. And Super Cool Gang-ers are more active in this quest than most others – so they should really rush to get it!!

4) Is your new book only for people who are employed? What about students, self-employed freelancers or entrepreneurs?

The book is of EVERYONE! Entrepreneurs can benefit hugely both in terms of lessening stress in their lives and to become better leaders. The exercises in the book will make them vastly more effective.

5) What would be one sentence message you would share with SCG-ers, which they could stick on the wall in their rooms?

You CAN create a life where every day is a blast!! Do not ever settle for anything else!!!

Dear Srikumar, thank you so much for your time and expressed trust.

Thank you for choosing  to share your insights about your new book with Super Cool Gang!

Many happy readers!

I have no doubt that SCG-ers will be among them, too.

      😉

  3. “Suffering comes from the drama between our ears” – very true and good choice of words. It is like an on-going play being acting out with results based on how you see yourself in the production. I will check out the book and look forward to having a “blast”. Nice work Ivana, thanks.

  4. Great interview Ivana, and certainly wise words from Prof. Srikumar Rao! Thanks for sharing this sneak preview with the SCG-ers!

  5. Salams Ivana,
I saw the video that you recommended in your last post and that was very interesting and informative. Provided me new ways and angles for thinking and to take my thoughts. I personally than you for that!

I just wanted to ask if I can ask questions from Dr. Rao directly via your blog? Just wondering if its possible! 🙂

    Regards,
    Z.

  6. Hi Ivana,

Thank you for introducing us to another cool resource.

I just completed the video and am familiar with the strategies. It’s helpful to be reminded of proven techniques with a fresh perspective. There are so many strategies one can implement!

    Have a blessed day!

    • Ivana Sendecka says:

      😉 Thank you Kim.
I am glad you have got to “meet” Prof. Rao
      😉
Have a super cool day, too.

  7. I wanted to ask this question from Dr. Rao that, what is the right way for jumping in entrepreneurship. The culture we are living in is so job oriented and one is just urged and encouraged to get a job as soon as he or she graduates. If someone wants to start his own thing, its highly discouraged and one is taken as jobless, not even considering that he might be so passionate about what he is doing, or want to do! We study to get a better job.

My question is, if still he manage to take risk to get in entrepreneurship which is a “Bold Step” in our society then how should he carry on with the same level of passion even in the environment where he is getting discouragement on every step 🙂

I hope this was a valid question and I asked this on behalf of many other passionate professionals who do want to get in entrepreneurship and get some points to stand to stand with their decision provided they have all the passion to do what ever they want to do.

P.S. I am into entrepreneurship for quite a while now and I have faced the same difficulties. Now its getting in shape and now its being recognized by people around gradually.

Want your words on this please 🙂 will be super cool.

    Regards,
    ZunNurain

  8. Beautiful and insightful interview.

I like the fact he provides a framework over answers … I think that’s key to getting to the right answers … is first having a framework for the right questions.

    • Ivana Sendecka says:

      Thank you J.D.,
I was a bit afraid when composing questions, as this was my first interview ever. I am glad it made sense.
      😉

  9. Great job Ivana!
I got curious about the book

  10. Carina Pueyo says:

    Hi Ivana,

A new treasure to discover, thank you. I will include in my next Amazon order, for sure.

I wonder how you get such a nice contact;)

    Best
